Just when you thought the Left Behind Games people had backed down - after negative publicity CrossWalk America helped create resulted in the firing of their senior VP and Left Behind Games stock plunging from $7.44 to $0.25 (and now at just over $.05/share), a new effort is underway to promote their horrific “convert or kill” theology.
This time, the Left Behind video game is reportedly being sent to US Troops in Iraq! How inspirational. I promise your jaw will drop after you read this article by Max Blumenthal of The Nation.
When CrossWalk America and its partners (the Beatitudes Society, The Center for Progressive Christianity, and the Christian Alliance for Progress) originally held a press conference and petition drive protesting the game, some asked us why we would expend so much time and effort to quibble over “mere” theological matters when so many “more important” issues faced the nation. As we explained, there is a powerful link between this kind of End Times theology in which only Christians will be spared from everlasting torture (and only “real” Christians at that) and U.S. international relations involving nations in which the majority religion is not Chrisitan.
